The 2009 ZX-6R was a substantial revision of the 599 cc supersport, with a lighter engine, revised chassis and swingarm, and a Showa Big Piston Front fork. Kawasaki claimed about 10 kg less weight than the previous model. It was also restyled, and the Ram Air figures show the bike's peak output with the ram-air system.
